The Table: Ladies Who LunchPosted: March 26, 2013
I’m always leaving people that I love. Of course, I want to be with everyone all the time but for as long as I can remember my loved ones have been dispersed all around the world.
I grew up between Liberia and the United States and attended six schools in two continents in three countries before my freshman year of college.
This Afropolitan lifestyle chose me a long time ago, I’m just coming to terms with it.
Now, that I’ve embraced my world trekking lifestyle I wanted to create an opportunity to do some of my favorite things with some of my favorite people; eat, drink and be merry.
The Table was born out of this desire. Every time I leave a country where I’ve been blessed to be a part of a community of awesome people I will be hosting a sit down meal. Not drinks or grab a bite but a full on physical invitations, your presence is requested, place set for you at the table meal. I feel like our generation has almost forgotten how to have a nice dinner party, so I’m bringing sitting at the the table back.
I hosted my very first The Table event in Atlanta, GA this past Saturday and it exceeded my expectations. Two of my best friends Mattie and Dominique help me put it together and 20 of the most interesting women I know in Atlanta attended. It was a Mango Tapas style dinner and there was lots of wine and cane juice (organic Liberian rum like liquor) passed around. We talked about Beyonce, the power of fellowship, the complexity of womanhood in 2013 and we laughed a lot.
It was a great moment in my life story. More to come from The Table where your network in your net worth.
